My Students
These materials are for a wonderful group of 3rd and 4th graders whom are excited about learning! My favorite part of teaching is helping my students develop a love for learning! Our school is amazing, and it is a very warm and inviting place. We have a wonderful community of teachers, parents, and students working hard every day to help everyone succeed.
My school has a very diverse population of students and families.
We are located in what some call a bedroom community, because parents work farther from home. Some of our students are low income, English Language Learners, come from single parent homes, or are living with other guardians. It can be challenging meeting the needs of the varying abilities and backgrounds of the students, but it is something I enjoy doing. I am looking to instill a love for learning in my students.
My Project
Reader's notebooks are an engaging resource to help improve comprehension and motivate students to write about what they've read. The notebooks can be used as an assessment tool for reading achievement over time including independent reading, guided reading, and genre study.
The reader's notebooks become a tool to access resources, as well as a diary of sorts of students' thoughts, feelings, reflection, and sharing.
Students will have written responses, make charts or quick sketches, interactive pieces that they will glue in and even writing they have typed up.
This is a great resource that the students will use throughout the year to grow as a reader and writer.
