My Students
Imagine living in a very small town and never being able to leave! Most of my students are only aware of our immediate community. Help me make them aware of other places and current events.
I teach 5 year-old kindergarten in rural South Carolina.
My students are bright and inquisitive. They come to school each day ready and eager to learn! We are a Title One school with 93% of kindergarten students receiving free/reduced lunch. All of our funds have been frozen for two years.
My Project
My students lack background knowledge of things such as current events and different cultures. They are very interested in learning about other places and cultures.
I would love to give them the opportunity to read about current events and other children of the world with Weekly Reader magazine.
In the past, I have asked parents to pay for these. Now, most of my parents cannot afford it. There are no school funds to help out.
Your help will make it possible for my students to learn about the world and current events.
They will learn about places they may never visit. You will also help them expand their awareness of different cultures.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
