My students need books that are of high interest, and on their level to help them excel as readers. I have requested a set of A to Z Mysteries, a set of Who Was?books, and a variety of books at levels L and I.
On any given day I teach anywhere from 24-50 different students. Many of them have not yet found a love for reading or are struggling to find books that they are capable of reading.
I teach in a Title 1 school.
I have many eager learners who lack access to books the are interested in or books on their level. With access to books that are on their levels, I expect to see them excel as readers and develop the same passion for reading that I have.
My Project
My students need books that are of high interest, and on their level to help them excel as readers. I have requested a set of A to Z Mysteries, a set of Who Was? books, and a variety of books at levels L and I. My students will have daily access to a variety of books, so that they are not "stuck" with a book just because it is their level. Rather, there will be MANY for them to choose from. Providing access will help them become even more eager readers. These books will help them read independently and relate to and practice things we are working on in the classroom.
How can I expect my students to improve without access to things that interest them?
This project will be just the beginning of helping me to help them be the best they can be!
