My students need a variety of Spanish books to reinforce reading fluency and comprehension skills that are being taught in whole instruction and small group settings.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are superheroes. They have bilingual super powers. They love to read and learn. Through reading, they can travel to the whole world. They are dreamers, energetic kids; students with commitment and passion for everything they do. They work as a team looking to succeed in all the things they need to do or complete. They succeed in my class, Language Arts, and they do it in the languages Spanish and English.
I provide whole group and individualized instruction in the areas of Reading, Writing, and Social Studies.
They have a block of English everyday where they learn and acquire new vocabulary to expand the knowledge of this language. All the other areas are in Spanish where they improve their knowledge and show proudly their native language.
My students are capable of being successful when skills and concepts are taught in an safe, engaging and meaningful way.
My Project
In my classroom, I provide direct instruction in Spanish Reading in whole group instruction and small group setting. Having more Spanish books give my students the opportunity to work on reading fluency and comprehension skills on a meaningful and engaging way. As students become familiar with newly introduced reading skills, the Spanish books are used to reinforce those skills. The Spanish books are a wonderful resource that helps students to improve on reading fluency and comprehension.
I will be using the Spanish books to teach them how to infer, analyze, and draw conclusions.
A student that reads will be an adult that think.
I want to provide my students with opportunities to enhance knowledge, acquire vocabulary, and improve fluency and comprehension.
