My Students

Where reading is promoted imagination, creativity, and growth follows to help students excel to incredible heights! I get the privileged of helping our whole school with their reading, from our adorable and very active Kindergarteners to our hilarious and talented 6th graders. Students come each day with a smile on their faces, happy to be able to come and learn from their teachers. As a Title I school, we have some additional challenges and we do everything we can to provide support where it is needed. We are always looking for research based ways to promote reading at our school and need your help to provide these manipulatives, devises, and supplies, and to support students development.

My Project

These items will be used in small groups within classrooms (K-6 grade) and reading groups to combat the individual students reading gaps, especially those caused by Covid closures.

Students with dyslexia can benefit from the ReaderPen while reading, working on projects, build their fluency, accuracy, vocabulary, and articulation providing them the confidence in their abilities.

Students will be using the MP3 players and headphones for fluency development. A reading program will be downloaded on them, allowing students to follow and read passages that are scaffolded for their level.

The overlays will help students with ADHD and dyslexia as they "train their brain" on reading techniques, skills, and focus that are essential for their development.

The pencil pouches, mirrors, and magnetic wands/discs are for phonics kits the paraprofessional will use in small groups to ensure students are understanding how to manipulate sounds and words. Specifically, the wands and discs will be used for activities in blending sounds/letters together. The mirrors will assist and support students who struggle producing the correct sound with their mouths. This can assist students with speech issues as well. Each student in the group would use a pouch regularly with all the necessary manipulatives to support them.

These items will help multiple students, in different aspects, with different individualized needs, in a variety of grades! By donating you will be helping more than just one student or one grade... you will be making a difference for many students who need it! Thank you in advance for your consideration and support!
