This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Our fifth grade family will be doing a lot of reading and writing this school year and I am eager to provide students with a comfortable space where they can read and relax. It is important for me to encourage and promote the love of books and reading to my students in order to grow and expand their minds and curiosity. My students' reading scores are on the low side, I want them to associate reading with fun and comfort. When they pick up a book they only have the choice of sitting in a rug. Our library is just missing the comfort of seats for my students to comfortably engage and allow their imagination to flow with every minute they spend reading. In a full class of 5th graders, two comfortable chairs is what I wish to start with in order to begin rotations so every child gets a chance to sit and read comfortably for a few minutes every day. It is a simple but necessary mean to make reading and learning appealing and engaging;
