Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
New standards are on their way in education. We need new materials to keep meeting them!
I have 31 energetic fourth grade students.
They are all very excited about learning, and love to read different genres of literature. Many of my students are English Language Learners. Most of them also come from low-income homes around the school.
My Project
We need ten copies of "Casey at the Bat" and ten copies of "Zlateh the Goat." With these books, we will be able to read different genres of literature in small groups. Having ten copies allows each student in a small group to read their own copy while the teacher leads discussions and facilitates their learning. These are also good examples of different genres, which every student should read!
Your help will allow our class to really understand the importance of reading different genres of literature.
They will also get the chance to work in small groups and build a deeper understanding of each text.
More than three‑quarters of students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
