Due to hearing loss, my students have a need for more practice with vocabulary and language experiences.
My students are 6th, 7th, and 8th graders with moderate to severe hearing losses in a public school setting.
The students use sign language and speech to communicate with others. Most of them are at a very low language level and need to be exposed to more appropriate books than what our school library has to offer.
My Project
I am requesting Apple iPod Touch and a Nook reader. The reader and the iPod will allow my students to download and read more appropriate books in seconds. They will be able to use language and reading applications on the iPod to practice their skills learned in class. This exciting technology will help keep the students engaged and learning in class.
I can't even tell you how much of a difference this would make in our classroom.
We do not have appropriate books and textbooks for the students to learn at the level they need. These materials will help support their language learning skills.
