My Students

“A reader lives a thousand lives before he dies,... The man who never reads lives only one.” --George R.R. Martin- A Dance with Dragons My students are struggling readers who need positive motivation and minimal distractions to encourage them to read.

My students are in a full curriculum resource special needs class which means they are taught reading and math at their ability levels.

My students are eager to learn and want to do well. They are typical preteens. They love music and sports. Our school is located in a rural coastal area where there is little to do. Coming to school gives them a chance to explore the world outside of their small community. My students live an hour from the beach and most of them have never seen the ocean. They have good work ethics and family values. The community depends on schools to provide insight and exposure for their children. The students enjoy learning about new places and things. Reading gives them the chance to use their imagination. It gives them an opportunity to live a thousand lives that they otherwise may not have the opportunity to do.

My Project

The bean bag chairs you help provide will be the perfect gift for my students to use. They will select books that they want to read and will use the chairs in the reading center to relax and read. They will enjoy reading because they can grab a book, kick back and let their imaginations run free.

Your donation will help create an environment that will give the students a chance to relax and read.

The donation you make will make them better, stronger readers and thus better and stronger people.
