My Project
Like many schools in New York City, we have welcomed many new English learners into our classrooms. These students are often facing many uncertainties, and they join our classrooms with widely varying educational histories.
The English New Language team at our school aims to provide rich and supportive reading intervention for students who are more than three years behind their grade level.
These materials will support us as we fill in skill gaps with our students.
As students gain reading and language skills, they are able to feel more a part of their new school community. We believe literacy and language skills are a right for children and a necessary aspect of building a secure sense of home in their new country.
More than three‑quarters of students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
