Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I am a teacher at a Title I School in Tempe, Arizona. Our school has a diverse and transient population, with students from all over the globe. Many of my students speak another language other than English, and reading can be challenging for them. The culture of our school is positive, loving, and accepting. It is a place where students feel safe and supported.

I have true future world leaders in my classroom.

My diverse group of second graders are exceptional because they are more than just accepting of one another. They ask questions, learn, and celebrate each others' differences. Despite their situation at home, they come into school with big smiles on their faces, ready to make the most of every day in the classroom. From the minute they walk through the classroom door, I focus on the potential and growth of each student. I aim for each student to leave my class confident that they can be and accomplish anything they set their minds to.

This year is my first year teaching! Throughout the year, I have realized that there are many resources I still lack as a new teacher that would make my classroom an even more enjoyable learning environment for my kiddos. Because of the pandemic, my students have still had less time to become successful readers as well as organized students. These items will help my students become responsible and organized. The books will help them to become more excited to read and make their days more enjoyable and fun!
