Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Over half of my class is of Hispanic origin with Spanish speaking families. The classroom is their window to the English language. With these English Language Learner Games and Sight Word Games, my students will be exposed to more English vocabulary.

We are a second grade classroom with 18 students.

Most of my Hispanic children do well speaking everyday English Language but they have a difficult time understanding some second grade concepts during testing. We are an extremely large school with 26 second grade classrooms! We have approximately 450 students.

My Project

I am asking for Sight-Word Bingo Games and English Language Learner Games to help broaden the vocabulary of my Hispanic children. They lack some common vocabulary and these games would be fun, engaging, and a great teaching tool. The Sight-Word Bingo will also be great for my English speaking students. The Fluency Partner-Scripts and Skills Centers would be beneficial to the entire class. Second graders work hard on reading fluency and these kits would help them greatly.

Donations would be greatly appreciated for this project.

These tools will be beneficial for all 18 of my students and for classes to come. Not only will these tools help with vocabulary but it will increase reading fluency in all children.
