Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Our students are such hard workers and many have special superpowers. As diverse learners or language learners, I know that learning to read can be especially difficult when our brains don't think like everyone else or we are navigating between two (or more!) languages. This project will help me give students materials to practice decoding words and engage in reading with activities that are FUN instead of frustrating! Paint and playdoh can help to break down sounds while kinetic sand can be used alongside centers stations to practice tricky spelling patterns.

I know that my students work incredibly hard to do their best each and every day.

I want to ensure that they are able to meet their academic goals while also feeling safe, loved, and welcome in their new classroom. The materials in this project will allow them to participate in both independent and guided reading work during centers time so we can make the most of our learning time and become better readers!
