My Project

The materials from this project will go directly to my seventh graders' reading opportunities. A first-year teacher (me) will add the books to the classroom's library.

The books chosen represent a diversified demographic as my students are from a low socioeconomic area in rural South Carolina.

In Hemingway's South Carolina; generations of children have been sold the same dreams repeatedly with no chance for different narrators. In a school with a majority of POCs, it is vital that students have an opportunity to access the world through their sustained reading time. The books will be outlets for the future generation to continue the love of reading.
