This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are so unbelievably funny, there’s not a single day that goes by where they haven’t managed to get me to crack a smile. Their ability to find humor in any setting is so refreshing that it makes my exhausting job a little easier.
They make me laugh with all the sweet things they will do for me in order to earn points in my class.
They volunteer to pack up the books, plug in laptops, and even sweep the floor!!!
My Project
My class has a core structure of rotations. One of those rotations includes independent reading, in which the students are to select a book based on their interests and Lexile scores. I want to share my love of reading with my students, and my favorite place to read is on my cozy couch at home. I want to provide a cozy corner in my classroom where students are able to relieve themselves from the stress of their everyday lives and immerse themselves in a book of their choosing. Having these materials will afford my students comfort, learning and peace.
