This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My class of 2nd graders loves learning and they especially love read-aloud stories. In my curriculum, there are rare opportunities for my class to just listen to fun read-aloud books, and I am working diligently to find any opportunity I can to change that. Science shows that reading aloud to students has huge benefits to their reading and language development. My goal for this project is to get a bunch of new fun read-aloud books that I can supplement my curriculum with so that my students get a chance to listen to engaging and fun stories!
I carefully chose all of these books because they teach important lessons that my students will learn from.
I added a variety of seasonal or holiday-related books and MANY of the books I would love to add to our library have themes of kindness and respect.
In addition to building my classroom library, I would also love to provide my students with additional hands-on manipulatives to use during indoor recess and morning choice. My students thrive when they get an opportunity to express creativity through building and art- and therefore I would love to get new building materials for them to use.
