Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are hardworking individuals, and they constantly want to please. They deserve to have the opportunity to receive all the help that is available to them. They come from a rough neighborhood surrounded by high poverty and crime. Despite their hardships, they rarely miss a day of school.
My students come from low-income households, and they don't have much at home to offer to the school when it comes to supplies.
Many times, they come to school hungry and in need of hygiene supplies. We provide free breakfast and lunch to all children. What they do have to provide are big hearts and brains ready to be filled with new and exciting information.
My Project
My students are extremely motivated to read Fly Guy Books this year! They are so excited to go to our school library every week to check out Fly Guy books but most of the time they are so sad and disappointed because all the Fly Guy books are checked out by other classes. I get so sad when I see their sad faces. We would love to have a variety of Fly Guy books to keep in our classroom library so we can check out and read daily.
I want to see the love of reading stay with my students and I want to see them excel in reading.
By having a variety of these types of books will drastically enhance the enthusiasm of reading in our class.
We are getting close to the holidays and my students' creative side comes out. I would like to provide them with paper mache boxes so they can decorate them and add a photo of themselves on top. The hope is for them to create a beautiful, personal gift for their parents. We need your help as the funds are not available for my students to have these things. Any support you can provide us with will be so much appreciated! Thank you so much.
