Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our students are very intelligent and competent learners. They are a mix of multiple cultures. Our top priority is to increase our reading levels and increase our vocabulary this year! We want to make big strides and close the achievement gap.
Our students are in a low-income area, and many do not have books to read at home.
My students are very focused on doing their best and giving their all. They have all been together since preschool and they adore each other! They like to encourage each other and do their best.
My Project
These books will help my students to be able to sit down and enjoy reading more. We are embarking on a new venture in our reading program! We are learning how to read, research and analyze stories. We are also learning character analysis, sequencing, and making inferences. Students working in small groups, sharing their thoughts and analyses with their peers. Sharing stories helps students to increase their comprehension skills. Also, the rigor of reading chapter books helps increase reading fluency, which will help students close the achievement gap. Reading a wide variety of genres will also increase their level of achievement.
