it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
"The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you'll go." - Dr. Seuss
I am privileged to teach 25 kindergarten students.
They are eager and excited to learn. My students attend a large public school and come from low-income households. Many students receive free lunch and also qualify for free after-school programs. Most of my students are learning English as a second language and are attending school for the first time. They don't have many opportunities to participate in academically enriching activities outside of my classroom.
My Project
An easel is an important teaching and learning tool in the classroom, especially for whole group activities on the carpet. An easel allows me to teach and display things at the students' eye level. One of its daily uses will be for the morning message. Here, the students will learn about concepts of print and alphabetic principles. At the beginning of the year, I model the writing and as the year progresses, the students are included more and more. By the end of the year, the students are completely writing and assisting each other with minimal support from the teacher! I also want to provide my students with a variety of literacy resources for our class centers to increase their phonic skills. Some of the resources we need are giant alphabet beads, literacy file folders, alphabet mystery boxes, and alphabet play dough builder cards.
Your support will help my students become lifelong learners.
The easel and alphabet centers will be used for many years to assist many students that come into my classroom. Each child will become a more confident and successful student because of the opportunities given to them to use the materials provided by you, the donor.
