This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are three-years-old. This is their first year in school. Many of them speak Spanish at home 🏡 and are learning English for the first time. All of my students come from low income families. They love ❤️ coming to school every day to play and learn. This year they will learn literacy skills to prepare them to read. When children are learning a new language while learning reading 📖 skills at the same time, it makes their task more challenging. My students need fun materials to motivate them to learn.
My Project
As I work with small groups of students to develop their reading 📖 skills, these materials will motivate them to identify and produce rhyming words, identify initial sounds, and recognize letters. Spanish language materials are very important to provide Spanish-speaking students a strong 💪🏻 foundation in their native language as they learn reading skills and English. English language materials will help native English speakers to develop their reading skills. Young children love ❤️ playing with the miniature items in these sets, and it really motivates them to participate and try their best. These materials can be used in many different ways to develop different reading skills.
