My students need 12 books and 1 boxed set to start their school year and help them get out of their summer reading slump.

My Students
Most of my students do not pick up a book or set foot in a library all summer. Many do not live in homes that value education, and after weeks of being at home, they loose their drive to read. I want to start the year with exciting new books that reignite their passion of reading.
Most of my students come from low income families.
Over 80% of students in the school receive a free or reduced price lunch. Our school is also facing hard times. Teachers are being let go, and there is no money for supplies. Despite these hardships, my students want to learn, and they genuinely enjoy being at school.
My Project
The books I would like for my classroom are books my students have been talking about, but the books are not available to them in the school library. These books will motivate students to get out of their summer reading slump and will reinforce good reading habits. Students will also be able to improve their reading and comprehension skills.
I hate telling children no when they ask for books, but I can't always afford to buy them out of my own pocket.
These children don't all have nice things like cell phones and computers, yet they're asking for books! I feel they deserve them.
More than three‑quarters of students from low‑income households
