My Students
My students are in sixth, seventh and eighth grades. All of my students have special needs and are in the lowest twenty-five percent of their grade level. Their various disabilities include learning disabilities in reading and math, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), intellectual disabilities and an autism spectrum disorder. Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, we must make adjustments to how students prepare for their post secondary education careers.
We are at a Title One school, which means that many of my students might come from low-income families and are unable to obtain many resources at home.
Regardless of their hardships, they all show a desire to learn and aspire to be successful. The skills they learn today will impact them throughout life. As a result of limited funding at my school, it would be extremely difficult to get these resources through school funding.
My Project
Reading Plus, is an evidence-based online intervention program that uses technology to personalize instruction to improve students’ reading proficiency, vocabulary, and comprehension by providing scaffolded silent reading practice.
Reading Plus will provide my students with an individualized, differentiated and strategic program that will increase their fluency and overall comprehension.
With Reading Plus online program, my students will become more fluent readers, and will also be able to comprehend at a higher level ultimately preparing them for their future. This program will give my students the opportunity to proceed at a pace that corresponds to their reading skill level.
Please support my classroom and give my students Reading Plus which will help them develop the skills they need to be proficient readers and independent learners.
