This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Our students come from a low income section of New York City in the Bronx. They almost all qualify for free or reduced-priced lunch. No matter the hardships they face at home, they come to school ready and eager to learn each day. The fifth grade students in this class are in an inclusion class made up of general and special education students with various needs.
Our students love to learn, and try very hard in school!
They truly enjoy reading books every day. We would love to be able to provide each of our students with a book to keep as they graduate and head off to middle school! These books will allow them to have a book all summer to keep them reading and hopefully keep some of the summer slide back away. This year we made it even more special by allowing students to choose their own books to ensure everyone gets a book they enjoy reading this summer.
