Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
"Not a Genuine Black Man" by Brian Copeland is a powerful and true story set in our community. It details the painful and recent history of housing discrimination and racism right here at home.
Our students must know this local history so that we can bring these powerful stories to our wider community.
Not only is this an important text in terms of storytelling to support my scholars' literacy development, this is the story of our home town. We will engage in project-based learning to help broadcast this history to our broader community.
We already have 18 copies of this amazing text, but we have 35 students in a class. Can we purchase additional copies so that each student may read independently during our class periods?
