it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My students are largely latino and Multi-Language Learners. I am a new teacher without many books. I am looking to build my book shelf. We are starting our independent reading unit and I am looking to make the love of reading an integral part of our classroom experience. Books are necessary for that.
My students have a variety of language levels and content interests, but they all want things that interest them and emphasize parts of their identities they are still learning about.
We have been exploring our interests and how these can help us choose books that we want to read.
I literally had a student tell me yesterday that he has never finished a book, but he really wants to! We went to the library and found him a book. He ended up leaving with FOUR!
