My Students

Students read at all different levels. Finding books that accommodate all of my students can be a challenge.

My students are emerging readers that love a good book.

They are always wanting to read to each other and to me. Our school is a Title 1 school with a high poverty rate. Many of my students do not have access to books outside of school. My students have the willingness to learn just not the resources needed to continue to learn outside of school.

My Project

Providing my students with books that are on their reading level will not only promote good reading but also build their confidence as a reader. I would like to provide my students with the chance to share a book at home with their parents that they able to successfully read. I would use the readers in a small group setting for students to read and gain comprehension of what they have read and then provide them the opportunity to take the book home to read and complete a follow up activity with their parents. I have requested various leveled readers for my students to build their reading foundation and self confidence.

Your donation to this project will provide my students with the opportunity to read an appropriate leveled book in the classroom and at home.

It will provide students with the opportunity to feel successful as a reader. It will give them the opportunity to explore literature and create a love for reading!
