it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
So where's your favorite place to read? I bet its in bed after a long day of working and you finally get comfy cozy with a good read just in time to relax your mind right before dozing off for a good nights sleep. Inner city kids don't really get to have that experience, and typically not in school.
In our room we are looking to get comfy cozy with some good reads to build our stamina and get us out of our hard plastic chairs and away from our tall wooden desks.
For too many periods in the school day we ask child to sit up straight, fold their hands and wait for directions. Then we ask them to take out workbooks and notebooks and get right to work.
My Project
Well with your help we are hoping to make the classroom a more cozy setup for them to do independent reading. Unfortunately in our school we don't have classroom rugs so I am asking for your help in purchasing 5 bed resting pillows that would give the students some support while finding a spot on the floor to read. Who wouldn't find a comfy pillow cozier to read on than their classroom chair, right?
If our project were to get funded I know my students would be beyond grateful for their chance to explore the classroom further by finding all the golden nooks and crannies in the room for reading spots.
