Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Due to the pandemic, many students have fallen behind, especially in reading. As a Primary Promise Intervention Literacy Teacher, I work with students in grades K-2. I service students who are well below the benchmark in reading. Our Primary Promise Program students are working on building their phonemic awareness and phonics skills. Students are provided with systematic, data-driven instruction in small groups of 1-5 to strengthen their foundational literacy skills. Our students are ready to become strong readers!
My Project
I want to reward and motivate my young readers to keep practicing! We are requesting necklace string and beads to create reading necklaces for each student. Each time a student successfully reads a new passage, they will get a bead to add to their necklace!
Reading necklaces are incentives used to encourage, promote, and celebrate reading accomplishments.
Celebrating the positives and the academic achievements has been a focus and a drive for success each and every day. The students deserve rewards, fun, and the extra motivators that make school a great place to be.
