My Students
My school is in an urban area, and it is classified as a low-performing school due to attendance and low test scores. Our school is able to provide us with some items, however, resources are limited.
My students are learning and growing in our Early Childhood classroom for students with Autism.
They range in age from 3 to 5 years old. We spend our days working and playing together to increase our kindergarten readiness skills. They are working hard to increase their functional skills to interact more with their peers.
My Project
I am seeking to expand our classroom library for story time reading. I teach in a school where almost all of the students are African American. We read a story everyday. I'm hoping to enhance our library so that the students can see illustrations with characters that look like them.
It's important that students connect in the literature that is presented to them.
Learning must be relevant in order to be absorbed. Although we have a great curriculum, it's not very diverse. I need help expanding our library for my students.
