Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Reading manipulatives help students learn and interact better with teachers. It also helps them participate in learning in an interesting yet engaging way, while at the same time improving spelling and word association skills. These tools can help my students learn to write words because it teaches him or her to 'sound out' the words.
By breaking a word down into the individual sounds, students find it easier to read and write the whole word.
CCVC and CVCC words are learned as part of students’ reading education, especially during the earlier foundational years. Students can learn to read and write using manipulatives to increase spelling skills, blending words, and improving reading fluency and phonics. These manipulative tools include pop its, flip boards, writing boards, and bananagram letter tiles.
In addition, we would need storage to organize our manipulative tools which be the mailboxes, along with a stapler to keep everyone’s work together.
Finally, I am requesting writing boards that can be used for writing our spelling words but also double over for math work. As students use the magnetic ten frames to solve math equations, students can also writing final answers on their writing boards as an interactive tool to keep students engaged in learning and accountability for his or her own learning.
