Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Octavio Paz is one of the most enduring and powerful writers and critics. In his book The Labyrinth of Solitude, he explores themes of identity, belonging, and a quest for solitude.
This year, my students get the opportunity to read parts of his essay as they dive into their International Baccalaureate HL essay.
Their HL essay must include knowledge and understanding of a body of work and draw their interpretations from the text. They would love to be able to incorporate a body of work that directly ties into their identity as many of my students are also from Mexico.
This book will need to be purchased in English and Spanish to accommodate the students who have recently moved to the country and need to rely on their primary language for academic success. We love books and thank you for your donation!
