My Students
Our district is very small with only two schools in it and our school has approximately 900 students total, but we are growing quickly.
We live just a few blocks away from the Pacific coast.
My students come from a variety of backgrounds and family structures. They are all full of life and have a huge love of learning! Our students work hard, have huge dreams, and deserve an education that not only consists of textbooks, but also technology, hands on learning, magazines/newspapers, and so much more.
My Project
We need more novels in our classroom to help our students to flourish even more in the area of reading. As we dive deeper into readers workshop, our students are becoming more avid readers, and are wanting more modern style of books.
I asked our class, "What would you like to see in our classroom?" The books that I have chosen are the books chosen by them.
They asked for nonfiction, comedy, series books, and more.
Now that we are in reader's workshop, students are able to choose books at their reading level, that interest them the most. They will use these books to help them show they understand the lessons being taught in class.
By having these books, students who are reluctant to read, will find books that they are excited to read. And, students who love to read, will find new and more engaging books.
