My Project
I am a kindergarten teacher in an areas of town that most students live in poverty, my students do not always live with their families. I have students who are homeless, they do not always have books at home or have parents/ adults who even know how to read. My students do not always have access to books and they love coming into my classroom and looking at a book. Then as the year continues they can recognize words then start be able to read words and then finish the year with reading their favorite books. The amount of pride they have when they come up to me to ask “Hi Mrs. Soffer can I read you this book to you?” I love it!! I record them reading and send it to their adult. It is just so powerful to be able to read, having books available to you is the start. Thank you.
