Help me give my students some excellent books, mainly written by local authors.

My Project
I have students with difficult backgrounds and lives who struggle with reading and behavior. They say they don't like school. I have just started this year with this crew. Today, we read some poems written in the local language of Hawaiian Creole or Pidgin and the kids were laughing and relating to the stories, and reading out loud.
The books I am ordering, aside from Touching Spirit Bear are all local novels, set in Hawaii filled with the pidgin language.
The students will read and fall in love with these books that are about characters much like themselves. Touching Spirit Bear, while not Hawaiian, is a story these kids will relate to, given the troubled background of the main character. These will be books I read with the students throughout this year and next.
