My Students
Our AVID Elective scholars are motivated to be successful in middle school, high school, and beyond. Many of my students will be first generation college students and have been in our AVID program for three years.
This group of 8th graders have bonded as a learning community, demonstrate college readiness, and are leaders in our middle school.
In AVID, we focus on developing skills in Writing, Inquiry, Collaboration, Organization, and Reading. This project will help us work toward these goals.
My Project
Please support this project so that students can engage in a book study. As a class, we are visiting an exhibit called "We the Future" at the Gates Discovery Center. Reading this text as a class will allow students to continue their exploration of motivation and activism.
By purchasing a copy for each student, they will be able to annotate their texts, take ownership of their learning, a keep their copy in their personal libraries.
While our literacy curriculum generally allows students to choose their own independent reading, there is power in reading in a community. Thanks for your support!
