Help me give my students a class of new books to read. I work at a Title I school in East LA, with fifth grade students that are full of potential and bright futures.

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Reading does lead to dreaming and leading.
Books are where students turn to for inspiration and support during hard times, and what better time to find inspiration than now?
The books I am requesting will enhance the experiences of about twenty fifth grade students whom I strive to teach. My library is a place where students learn about sung and unsung heroes and villains, the complexities in the world around them, and the courage it takes to make a difference. My students will also learn about themselves through reading.
Every book will be treated with care and love and also be read and loved by all my students. With the variety of books on this list, my students will be able to find a book that is just right to them. They can then enjoy the art of reading during independent reading time. One of the most important things about improving to read is that I can provide a book that interests them. Having these books will only enhance that experience.
My students have already shown me how reading can make a difference in their lives. The characters and stories they read about show these students that each of us do have the power to make a difference. I plan to use this project to continue to support them in doing so.
