Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I work at a Title One school. Some of my students are refugee students who are new to the country and learning English for the first time. Some of my students have experienced homelessness and some of my students come from low income households. Even though my students come from various backgrounds, I want to support my students as much as possible with their learning goals and skills. That is where this project comes into play.
Most of my project is seeking educational activities, games, resources, and tools to help my students practice their reading and math skills in first grade.
My project has decoding games to help students learn English, while also practicing letter sounds. It also has a game that helps students with sight words practice and recognition. My project also has laminating sheets listed so I can create decoding cards for students to use in class. I also have a wobble chair listed in my project to help students release extra wiggles in class. My project also has math fact book practice sheets for students to practice their math skills. The last few items in my project are for Halloween party materials. We have crafting centers listed, specifically for magic potion creations, chime making, pin the eye on the witch, and Halloween decor and rewards. I know these items will be exciting for my students during the party! I believe in this project and I know these materials will support my students this year.
