Help me give my students books, bookmarks, and writing pens to reinforce reading and writing skills when students earn rewards for their great P.B.I.S. behavior!
Our students are avid readers, falling in love with the stories they find in our literacy closet. They are beginning to enjoy reading for a wide variety of experiences it can provide them. It is our job as a school community to foster that love of books for them.
Although we serve a high poverty population of families who do without lots of extras, our students deserve the supports to help them get the most out of life.
Our students deserve the best reading materials to choose from, which will support and encourage their love of books during this critical stage in their educational lives. As a Title I school, most of our students come from underprivileged homes. Well-stocked bookcases at school, a well-used literacy closet, and books students line up to check out are all tools we can use to level the playing field for our students.
My Project
Students here participate in Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports, P.B.I.S. This means we teach and reinforce positive behaviors often to encourage the kinds of behaviors we wish students to display. Students can earn rewards several times a year.
When our students get rewards for great behavior, we also want those rewards to reinforce reading and writing skills!
Our students love books. They love writing with fancy gel pens. They love collecting the entire series of books by a favorite author. They are well on their way to becoming lifelong readers! Please help them do so.
