This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Diverse, hard-working, friendly, and well-behaved are just a few of the words to describe the students at my school. Overcoming the challenges that tend to come with living in an inner city does not come easy to many groups of children. Throughout the years, however, the students at this school have achieved great things (both academically and socially) time and time again.
I cannot imagine working with a more well-rounded and talented group of students.
These students always set high goals for themselves, and more often than not, they reach those lofty goals!
My Project
Spending 5+ hours each day sitting in the same metal seat can be challenging for anyone. Towards the end of our long day, my students take part in what is possibly the most important part of our day--Independent Reading... As we say, "The more we read, the better we read!"
I believe that student engagement and attention during Independent Reading will increase if we had some comfortable seating options.
Think about all the times we as adults read for enjoyment... it's always in a comfortable setting. These "Big Joe" bean bag chairs are the perfect solution to the cold metal chairs my students are used to, and a great place to sit while getting lost in a good book.
