My students need a vast variety of read-along books and CDs to help with reading and learning unknown vocabulary. Each of my students will have the opportunity to listen to popular children's books aloud.

My Students
I will be teaching an amazing group of students from more than three different countries with a vast variety of different dialects. Our school is Title I school where more than half of my students are refugees and low-income households. We are a neighborhood school situated in a high poverty area in Clarkston, Georgia located in DeKalb County. My class include 27, eager, very diverse, and curious third graders with the drive to learn.
In my classroom, we practice listening, speaking, and reading daily using cooperative learning strategies.
My Project
One area my students struggle the most with is reading and understanding the English language. I am requesting read-aloud books with CDs for my students who struggle with reading and speaking. I want my students to be exposed to the new language through hearing, because I know how nerve wracking it is to overcome trying to learn a new language and feel confident. Read-alouds are a great way for my students to become familiar with the English language and encourage them to become strong readers. At the listening center, students will be able to listen to stories to boost their confidence.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
