My Project

I teach students with mild intellectual disabilities at a high school in Newport News, Virginia. Most of my students struggle with reading and comprehension and require up-to-date and materials that cater to their needs. I want to create a comfortable reading environment for my students. Many of my students read on a first thru third-grade reading level so they struggle to find books on their reading level in the school library. Giving students a comfortable and safe learning environment inspires them to learn and grow.

Unfortunately, our school lacks a budget to meet my students' needs.

Therefore, I rely on grants to keep our collection up-to-date and cater to my students' interests.
