My Students
At my school, we strive to provide an academically engaging and relationship building environment that, in three years, produces students who are ready for high school.
Our students have PRIDE "Personal Responsibility in Developing Excellence" in themselves and our school.
While many of my students come from low-income backgrounds they do not let that stop them from learning. I strive to provide the best resources possible for all of my students so that they can have the same learning opportunities as their peers in other districts.
My Project
One of my school's yearly goals is to increase reading levels in all students. Although our library has a variety of reading levels, few of our books are at the top of that spectrum. My goal with this project is to increase the number of higher-level books by adding a variety of both fiction and nonfiction titles for students to read.
By reading books at a higher reading level, students will continue to improve not only their reading skills but also their knowledge of the world around them.
It is fundamental that students are provided with a large selection of books to choose from so that they can always find something they will enjoy reading. This is one of the many ways in which the love of reading and learning is nurtured among today's youth so that they will become better leaders and thinkers in the future.
