My students need a Nook and 4 Kindles in our classroom to help with reading practice and computer aided learning and to prepare them for our tech savvy world.
I remember as a child reading anything that I could get my hands on...I devoured books. They were my ticket to new places and great adventures. So many of my students struggle with reading and I want to provide them with technology to help them discover a new way of reading and learning.
My students attend an elementary school near the center of a major metropolitan urban area.
All of my students receive free/reduced lunch. They can be talkative, but are a great group of children. They are never so engaged as when they get the chance to use technology. They are struggling readers but they are eager learners who want to know more.
My Project
Kindles and Nooks are great tools in the classroom. They allow students to more access to tools that can help them with learning. I experienced this in a classroom that was equipped with i Pads...it was awesome how engaged the students were! They could read, research, study, and create projects, all at their desk in the classroom.
I think that having this resource in my classroom will greatly benefit my students, especially those struggling readers who need more help.
They can use educational apps and programs to work on reading skills more often than I can offer individual instruction. I can just imagine them growing by leaps and bounds!! I want them to be ready for success when they leave me and continue on to 3rd grade.
