This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I teach a class of amazing first-grade students, all of whom are English Language Learners. Many of them are newcomers, navigating the challenge of learning English while mastering foundational reading skills. Despite the difficulties, they show incredible resilience, enthusiasm, and determination every day. English is one of the hardest languages to learn, but with the right tools and resources, I know they can thrive.

I strive to provide an equitable education to each and every student.

To help my students become confident readers, I am requesting Fundations Readers. This set includes six copies each of 24 illustrated, full-color books that are 95% decodable. The stories and informational texts reinforce the skills we practice daily in our Fundations lessons. With the theme of "Being Together," these books will captivate my students while expanding their knowledge.

These books are specifically designed for first graders learning to read, making them perfect for my ELL students. They also include a Teacher’s Guide with comprehension questions and extension activities, allowing me to tailor lessons to my students' needs.

While I know these resources are an investment, they are high-quality materials that will benefit my students for years to come. Thank you for helping me give my students the tools they need to succeed!
