My Students

My 4th-grade class is composed of 20 students from a Title One school. That means that in general, they have little resources. Their families have a difficult economic situation. Some of them wear the same clothes the whole year long. What makes them special is that in spite of the difficulties they are still eager to learn and the families do what they can to support their kids.

Last year I taught them to play chess and they were super excited that at the end of the year we had a chess tournament in the classroom.

I hope they are going to play chess forever.

Education can make a huge difference in their lives I am committed to finding ways to give them the best education they could have.

My Project

I would love to teach in a classroom that is engaging for students. I think hands-on materials can make a difference in students’ learning. That's why I would love to have books and different materials in my classroom to have my students participate in different activities such as practicing math on whiteboards as well as improving their reading comprehension using chapters books. I usually struggle to have enough materials that could last for the complete school year such as markers that are usually used in several activities. It is also difficult to have chapter books for everyone in the classroom. These materials would be really useful. I consider kids should receive the best education possible no matter their context. That’s why I’m always looking for possibilities to find resources. I hope you can help.
