Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I work at a Title 1 school in South Los Angeles. My students are so wonderful! Although they are from more challenging backgrounds, they come to school ready to learn every day. They are so appreciative of everything they receive. It has been such a pleasure being their teacher.
My Project
I'd love to have more variety of books for my students. Since getting to know them, I've learned so much about their interests, so I know they will love these books.
Every day, my students participate in DEAR (Drop Everything and Read).
This is a time for them to build reading stamina and to sit back and enjoy reading books based on their own personal interests.
I'd also love to have a class set of oil pastels to have students use during art time. Every Friday, I try to plan fun and engaging art projects for my students and I know the oil pastels will be put to good use.
