Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am a reading specialist in a district with many diverse needs such as free and reduced meals, high ESL population and a shrinking budget.
I work with emergent readers who are beginning to put the pieces of reading together. However, I am finding it hard creating ideas to build intrinsic motivation.
Our district's basal readers are many years old and missing some key components to meet the needs of our population. Over my years of teaching I have been acquiring material from many sources like garage sales, book recycle and donations from our PTA. Donors Choose is another source that helps fill the gaps of our reading curriculum.
Your donation will help build intrinsic motivation and inspire young beginning readers to have the confidence they need to gain a love for learning.
