My Project
The resource that I am asking for is very unusual. It’s for a book vending machine. That’s right, our students love to read, so this will be used as part of our school wide rewards system.
Our community wants to give students a say in earning and giving ownership for their leisure reading material.
My school participates in a school wide behavior program called PBIS which stands for Positive Behavioral Interventions Supports. This gives our students positive rewards for Being Safe, Being Respectful and Being Responsible.
Our students earn points for demonstrating good behavior, then they can trade those points in for prizes. This book vending machine would be the ultimate prize! Students would be able to trade in a pre-determined amount of Dolphin Dollars for a token. Students can then select a new book from the book vending machine. Our PBIS program has improved our schools overall climate and this would improve it even more.
Teachers have to be creative to get students to buy into these programs and this book vending machine would definitely do the trick. Thank you for all you continue to do for teachers everywhere.
