Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
FA is a school located on the south side of Chicago. My school is comprised of 60% Hispanics and 40% African Americans. I am a 7th & 8th grade teacher who is dire need of your help. My students are growing into successful and productive citizens. They are funny and are eager learners who love to read and write about solutions they proposed in a problematic community. I see future doctors, lawyers, politicians, comedians, engineers and etc, growing right before me. They have a tender heart and because of situations they are faced with, it can often times cause them to be pessimistic as well as optimistic. They hope for the better and look for the better when often horror stares them in the face.
My kids is what I call them because I want them to know they have people who love them and care about them and want to see them succeed in life.
We are a title I school, with 99% of students receiving free lunches. My kids are brilliant! They deserve as much help as possible, these are the reasons why I am reaching out to you, to help fund some of the projects needed.
My Project
These materials will help my students become exposed to different reading materials/text. I notice my students have limited access to printed materials due to budget cuts that has been happening for the past couple of years in the city of Chicago. With your help and support students will have the opportunity of having their own books. Students will not have to read from photocopied printed material nor will a group of students have to share reading the same book. Students will individually have their own books to read.
The copier will help me be able to print reports they send me via email without having to leave my classroom constantly, or waiting in line to use a printer in the teacher lounge.
Also, students will be able to print their research papers and assignments if they do not have a printer or internet services at home. These are the reasons why the dream project will benefit from the novels and printer.
