My students need books, books, and more books! I am starting out teaching in a new kindergarten classroom and want to provide my students with all the books they need to develop a love of reading!

My Students
Picture this, a classroom of 26 five year olds staring at you, eager to soak up any information being taught! They are excited and energetic, despite the fact that many of them come from families with very little. I want my students to have the best resources in front of them all the time!
My students are from a high poverty area of DC.
Teachers are dedicated to ensuring students have the best of what's around and students are excited to learn and grow. Every day I walk into school, I am greeted by the best smiling five year-olds around. It is my job to make sure I am doing everything I can to set them up for successful school careers that lead to the amazing lives that they want and deserve.
My Project
My students live in a high poverty area of the nations capital where we are working on closing the achievement gap. In order to do this, my students need the best materials available to them. These books will make a world of difference. They will transport them to different worlds where their imagination can run wild! They will learn that reading can open up new doors and provide grand experiences for them. I will use these books to help students gain that love of reading that will carry them through their schooling and onward through life in hopes that they will become lifelong learners!
